This is the crew at my June 1 lighting workshop for professional photographers. They came from every New England state except RI and as far away as Virginia. We had a great time photographing models and discussing lighting!

I am both humble and proud to have once again been selected the 2008 NH Photographer of the Year. The award is based on the total print score of the images you enter in the NH Professional Photographers annual print competition. Basically, the best body of work wins.

This is the seventh time I have won the award. No other NH photographer has ever won this more than twice. Five photos are entered and the scores of the top four images are added up to determine the winner, with the fifth being considered in the event of a tie. My print case consisted of three portraits and two 'unclassified' images. I'll post some of them later for you, the portraits are all from the project that I did for St Ann's Health Care in Dover.

I also received the Master's Court of Honor for this image and was one of only three photographers to have all five images receive first place awards. I work at my craft every day to be sure my clients get the finest photography available. Even though we are in a small town in a small state, we set our goals as being comparable to the finest photographers in the country.

This image is titled "Full of Life" and is of Fr Griffin from St Ann's in Dover. I chose the title because of the wonderful expression and the lapel pin of the baby feet. This simple but powerful image was taken using window light at St Ann's. The combination of subject matter, excellent print quality, expression, and skillful use of light is the reason why it scored so well in competition.

A different approach. Instead of using a long lens like we usually do, I used a wide angle to exaggerate the lines and perspective. Then I used a blue effect and blurred the edges for the finishing touch.

Three images from this mornings session with Kelsie, an upcoming Somersworth senior! We spent about an hour creating some fabulous studio and outdoor portraits.

Here's just a couple of photos from the session I did today of Leah, an STA 2009 senior! You'd think she was a professional, she did such a great job. I spent 90 minutes with Leah and her mom before she had to go to lacross practice, we even squeezed in a few outdoor images as long as no grass or trees show, they don't look so great yet!

This is the 'before' photo - before I mix the two runny eggs with the hash and put ketchup all over it! Lorraine can't even look at it, but I sure like it! It's from Weesksie's in downtown Dover. Mmmmmm, good!
